n Parachute Instructor. It further looks at Demo Parachuting, including when things went wrong. It takes the reader back in time looking at the equipment, DIY modifications, Emergency Procedures; including bailing out of an aircraft that has had an engine failure, and how some people's minds think when they have jumped from an aircraft which the pilot has lost control, but then hesitate to open their parachute....... It covers the funny and the more serious aspect of life during those early years and the 'Interesting TV' coverage provided to the crew of the program, 'Wish You Were Here'. Those were the great days. We jumper Round Canopies, Triangle Canopies and Squares. We had malfunctions, but we learnt from them. Our knowledge on kit and skydiving skills have been passed on to make skydiving as safe as it is today. Today knowledge is freely available, but in days gone by, for example, I remember my first Relative Work brief. The intention was for another skydiver and I to hook up in FreeFall. "To go forwards move your hands back" was all I was told. So the two of us went up. The other skydiver left first with me diving out after him. I moved my hands back and off I went in a forward direction. But it looked like suicide. I was closing in on him really fast, so I turned away. When I got back I asked the 'Advise Giver' how the hell do you stop. He replied, "One day you will find out". That was it. How times have changed. This book also covers the fun and games, parties and how to get free beer. The comradeship in the early days was phenomenal and people enjoyed life for what it was.
